Are you a ‘LeVisionator’?

“The love of money is the route of all evil”, or so they (the wizards) say.

And yet money is often a necessary evil in order for new initiatives to get off the ground. But it drives me to despair.

It's been over a week since there were last people other than me in the CYFC office, and it's driving me insane. Usually, I spend school holidays wading through a huge backlog of emails from the months beforehand, but this break has been different. Not only has our administrator moved on to new pastures, but I've had a new priority – grant applications.

This is ME!! (Maybe)

I always disliked the prospect of email weeks, but now I have a fresh perspective. I HATE grant applications (with a passion)!! To the point that I've actually found myself wishing I could work through my emails like normal.

I honestly can't decide what would be worse – being a visionary stuck in the role of an administrator, or having a real gift of administration but always being put into leadership roles. Is there ANY middle ground? Can anyone do both with excellence?

I've always said that youth workers who are also skilled with Children are a rare breed, but maybe the effective all-in-one leader/visioneer/administrator (or as I like to call them, 'levisionators') is a thing of myth.

Either way, after over a week in an empty office (apart from me, obviously), I'm starting to go slightly mad.

I mean, really, why does every grant application form ask the same question 4 times?

  1. What does your charity do?
  2. What do you want to do?
  3. What will you achieve?
  4. How will you know you have acheived it?

Am I stupid? (#rhetoricalquestion)

I'm running out of ways to say the same thing 4 times without sounding lame.

Seriously, if anyone reading this is any good with fundraising (and especially grant applications), I will give you my kingdom (or at least buy you a cookie) for some help. This is flippin' ridonkulous!! You don't need to be a levisioneer. Just being good with words and getting ideas down on paper would be perfect!!

Right, that's enough ranting for now. I need to run around the office and talk to a wall or something for a few minutes, then get back to these STUPID applications!!

Ciao.
